Dubai hotels averaged 66% occupancy in August 2026, their best month in half a year, according to figures from the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The data came out on 13 September, the eve of Arabian Travel Market.

The city is still short of last year's pace. August occupancy stood at 89% of the August 2025 level. The climb since spring is steep, though: in March 2026 only 36% of rooms were filled. Between January and August, occupied room nights in Dubai hotels totalled 21.61 million. Room supply was close to 149,000 by the end of August, while a number of properties have started major renovation projects.

Around 869,000 international overnight visitors came to Dubai in August, the highest monthly count since February. That takes the eight-month total to 6.97 million. Zawya noted that arrivals have grown by double digits month on month since March. Over January to August, Western Europe supplied the largest share of visitors (20%), ahead of South Asia (17%), the GCC (16%) and the CIS with Eastern Europe (14%).

Issam Kazim, chief executive of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, part of DET, said Dubai is still receiving international guests "at significant scale".

For travellers, the numbers point to hotels that are filling up again but remain less crowded than a year ago. You can compare places to stay in the DoBy hotel catalogue.

Khaleej Times reported the figures, and Zawya carried the same DET data.
