Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finished replacing Al Satwa Roundabout on 2nd December Street with a junction controlled by traffic lights. Completion was announced on 14 October 2026. The work also included upgrades to the surrounding road surface and infrastructure.
The RTA says journey times through the junction have fallen by 50%, and waiting times and queues during rush hour are down by as much as 60%. Both figures come from the authority itself.
The junction carries traffic in both directions along 2nd December Street, towards Trade Centre and Al Satwa, and links into the neighbourhood's internal streets. It gives easier access to Sheikh Zayed Road and to nearby districts including Jumeirah, Al Hudaiba, Al Jafiliya, Al Bada'a and Trade Centre. Buses can now enter and leave the area more easily, which the RTA expects to cut delays on public transport.
The project works alongside the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project. The RTA's aim is for the two schemes together to ease the flow between the main corridors and the streets around Sheikh Zayed Road.
If you live in Jumeirah, Al Bada'a or Al Satwa and drive towards Trade Centre, this is a junction you likely cross every day. The RTA's estimate is that waits there at rush hour will be shorter.
Khaleej Times reported the completion, and WAM's version of the RTA statement ran on Zawya.
