Dubai Land Department (DLD) announced on 2 November 2026 an upgraded Ejari service in the DubaiNow app. Tenants and landlords can now create, register, renew and cancel tenancy contracts on one digital platform. Tenants can also pay the security deposit for Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) services within the same flow.
For a new rental, the user first creates the tenancy contract in the app and registers it. After approval, the Ejari certificate is issued immediately. Paying the deposit activates electricity and water services.
Tenants renewing a lease can complete the Ejari renewal in the app. Landlords and tenants ending an agreement can use the cancellation service. Both parties are linked through UAE PASS, Dubai's digital identity system.
Mohammed Ali Al Badwawi, who heads the Real Estate Registration Sector at DLD, said the service brings the tenancy journey together "through a trusted government platform". Marwan Bin Haidar, who leads innovation and the future at DEWA as executive vice president, said the integration should cut the time and effort customers spend on these steps.
DLD figures show the scale of the rental market. Rental contracts were worth about Dh32.2 billion in the first quarter of 2026. In that period Dubai recorded 118,385 new contracts and 135,607 renewals.
The service supports the Services 360 policy, the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Digital Strategy.
For tenants, signing a new lease, renewing one or preparing a move now involves fewer separate procedures. Those searching for a home can browse long-term rentals in Dubai.
