Dubai Islands to upgrade 3km of shoreline and add a beach near Bay Villas by 2027

Nakheel said on 8 October 2026 that it has awarded the marine and beach works on Island B of Dubai Islands to Mar Marine & Building Contracting. The contractor will rework roughly 3km of shoreline on the island's western side and create 320 metres of new beach next to the Bay Villas community. Work is due to finish in the fourth quarter of 2027.

The package covers new breakwaters and the removal of the rock revetments that currently protect the coast. A fresh beach will be formed near Bay Villas, and several existing beaches on the western side of the island will be repaired and refurbished. Neither outlet gave a value for the contract.

Construction of Bay Villas, which will have 636 villas and townhouses on Island B, is under way at the same time. Nakheel handed that Dh2.6 billion building contract to Fibrex Contracting in August 2025. Khaleej Times added that Al Nasr Contracting won a Dh527 million contract for Island B's main infrastructure and utilities in April 2026.

Khalid Al Malik, chief executive of Nakheel's parent Dubai Holding Real Estate, said the works would produce a "high-quality coastal environment" that grows alongside the wider masterplan.

Dubai Islands covers 18.6 sq km across five islands off the Deira coast. The plan provides for about 62,000 homes for more than 230,000 residents, along with over 11,000 hotel keys and more than 4,000 branded residences.

Buyers looking at Bay Villas now have a target date for the finished beach next to the community. Homes in the area are listed under property for sale on Dubai Islands.

Gulf News reported the award, and Khaleej Times carried further details.
