The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) warned on 17 October that changing weather conditions may reduce horizontal visibility in some parts of the country. The authority said this may affect some flight operations and cause limited delays, depending on the weather and safety requirements.
The GCAA described such impacts as part of the operational challenges linked to these conditions. Airlines and airport operators are taking the measures they need, following their standard operating procedures and aviation safety rules. According to The National, the authority said any disruptions would be handled under strict safety protocols.
Any changes to flight schedules will be announced by the airlines and airports concerned on their official channels. The National reported that passengers have been advised to check those channels for updates.
The National also noted that heavy fog this week led Abu Dhabi authorities to cut speed limits to 80kph in some areas. In Dubai, drivers were urged to take care because of poor visibility.
Travellers flying in or out of the UAE should check their flight status with the airline or airport before leaving for the terminal. Those hiring a car for airport transfers may want to allow extra time on the road. Options are listed in the car rental catalogue.
Gulf News reported the GCAA advisory, which Khaleej Times and The National also covered.
