Emirates Road will close for four hours every day in the direction from Dubai towards Sharjah, Etihad Rail announced on social media. The closure begins on 30 October 2026 and lasts until 15 November 2026. The stated reason is ongoing railway infrastructure works.
Gulf News reported that the restrictions apply daily throughout the period. The closure window is between 1am and 5am, and drivers on that stretch should budget more time for the trip.
Motorists are asked to watch the signage near the affected sections and to follow instructions from road authorities. Those driving from Dubai to Sharjah are advised to look up alternative routes before leaving and, where they can, to travel outside the closure hours. Etihad Rail apologised to road users for the disruption.
The roadworks belong to the broader build-out of the UAE national rail network. Separately, two passenger stations, one in Zayed City and one in Liwa, both in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra region, are scheduled to open on 30 November. Their opening date was moved earlier so that it falls within the region's festival season.
For residents and visitors driving between Dubai and Sharjah in the early hours, such as on airport transfers, the closure affects that route during those four hours. Those arranging transport can browse the DoBy car catalog.
